Java NOT required.
Sharetru's Development Team has been hard at work making a new web browser interface. This is just the first step toward making Sharetru more powerful and user-friendly. A preview of what a logged-in user might see is below. Projected release date is September 1, 2014 (possibly sooner).
Never fear; our current Java interface will still be user-selectable from a menu after login, for those that prefer the power of the Java FTP Client applet. The new web interface is built on a responsive framework so that it will dynamically resize and re-shape itself to fit smaller screens on devices such as tablets or smartphones.
This is only the beginning! Shortly after our initial release, the Control Panel for Site Administration will be totally integrated. At that point, administrators will no longer have to add /siteadmin to the URL and one login will get them access to everything.
